Alumni Dollars In Action

Thanks to all of you who through your generous donations and dues enabled the Alumni Association to once again give out grants of up to $500 each to the Rogers faculty. The grants enabled:

• The Art Department to purchase supplies for the after school arts program.
• The Music Department to help construct a "Black Box Recording Studio" and to help purchase Choral Risers for the auditorium.
• The Science Department to purchase a VHS-DVD recorder, supplies, and a JetFlo Expansion Module-1 Tray Light Stand.
• The Library to purchase $500 worth of reference and pleasure books.
• The Social Studies Department to purchase an 83c Multimedia Projector.
• The Newport Area Career and Technical Center to purchase a portable LCD projector to help with recruitment.

In addition to funding these needs we upkeep our website, donate to Skills USA, donate to class activites i.e. Senior Sports Banquet, Post Graduation Party, RHS Theater Group, etc.. We put an ad in the Binnacle and we purchase three Binnacles. One we give to the Library and two we keep in our Alumni room. We also present scholarships to deserving seniors going on to post secondary education. The 2007 winners were presented their awards in May by President Colleen Murray . The winners were: Liliana Mazo, Old Dominion College, George Reynolds Scholarship; Brenna Nunes, Rhode Island College, Michael Gould Scholarship; John Toracinta, Fairfield University, Class of 1986 Scholarship; Marina Zambrotta, Haverford College, RHS Alumni Scholarship.

It should also be noted that the Alumni received several memorial donations for past Rogers graduates. God Bless Joseph P.T. Vars, Anne Allen, Joseph Diogot, and Max Lopez.
