Rogers High School
From the Principal...

As principal of Rogers High School, I feel privileged and honored to carry on the long standing tradition of Viking Pride not only amongst the faculty, staff and students of our school, but also throughout the community.  It has been my vision to instill the passion that we all share for our Viking home in the next generation.

Some of the developments that have taken place over my first three years include:

  • College Board Advanced Placement (AP) certification of all AP teachers and courses offered at Rogers High School.
  • The addition of AP Biology to Roger’s Program of Studies.  This brings the AP course offerings to nine.
  • The participation of Rogers High School faculty members in College Board Vertical Training for teachers of grades 5 through 12.  This training will increase rigor at all levels.
  • The continued beautification of the Rogers High School campus.  The horticulture class and club will be working on the third garden since my arrival.  The first was the Alumni Garden; the second was the Michael Weidemann Memorial Garden; and the third will be a Japanese Garden that will be created in conjunction with our sister-city high school in Shimoda Japan.
  • We have instituted an Advisory curriculum revolving around a school-wide reading that supports student literacy and encourages community service.
  • Our talented staff is working to improve curriculum and instruction for all students in preparation for our New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges visit scheduled for 2010.

I thank the Rogers High School Alumni for their continued support and encourage them to continue the wonderful service they provide to our Viking family.
